Oregon, 2013.
These portraits of my family were taken in my parents' backyard here in Oregon in front of a set that we built of my grandma's living room back in Iran.
I'm the daughter of an Iranian immigrant. My whole life I have been navigating and working out what it looks like to grow up in the diaspora. There has been so much lost due to the political divorce between my two nations. Not being able to go to Iran to visit our family and see where my dad grew up is one of the heaviest.
This project is part of my still unfinished thesis exploring this, exploring the emotional inheritance of the diaspora as the daughter of an Iranian immigrant.
